Franz Mutis

Camilo Mutis

Camilo was born in Colombia in 1983. He started learning guitar at the age of 16. When he arrived to Oklahoma in 2004, he became the lead singer of the band Tierradentro. One of his first live performances was at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City where he sang for more than 6,000 people at the half-time of an arena football game. Since then he has cheered crowds in festivals, concert halls, and clubs with Tierradentro, and recently with Tekumbé. In Tekumbé, he is the lead singer and plays guacharaca and maracas as he sings. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in construction administration at the University of Oklahoma. He enjoys playing soccer, playing the guitar, composing songs for Tekumbé, and traveling on his free time.

Andres Lucas

Andres Lucas was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1973. Early on, Andres was interested in music, influenced by his sister, which studied 8 years of classical piano at the Caracas Classical Conservatory, and also from his mother and grandmother which performed pieces from Puerto Rico and Venezuela folk music on the piano. During high school years Andres got interested on the guitar and started classical guitar studies with David de Los Reyes, alumn of the Master classical guitarist Antonio Lauro. After high school Andres started undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas. Andres met Celso Dominguez, who had a band with his brother Carlos and Andres demanded to join in the fun. Rueda Libre was formed and used to perform cover songs in the Caracas night club and party scene. After College, Andres started a career at PDVSA as a process engineer but still maintained his relationship with Rueda Libre. In 1998 Andres decides to move to Norman Oklahoma to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma. During his time at OU, Andres met Franz Mutis and together founded the band Tierradentro. Andres started out as a percussionist for the band and in time took the spot as the lead guitarist. Andres currently works for the Norman based company Power Costs Inc. In 2009 Andres partenered up with Ricardo Sasaki and Robert Ruiz to open the ARES Recroding Studio, located in downtown Norman Oklahoma. During his spare time Andres enjoy playing indoor soccer and tennis, studying music, learning audio recording and digital music production, travelling and attending live performances of his favorite bands.

Josue Chavez

Josué was born in Los Angeles California in 1978. He was musically influenced by his parents at the age of 4. His parents bought him his first piano and took him to concerts where he got to meet some of the performing musicians. At the age of 9, his parents enlisted Josué in Or Dale School of Music, where he took accordion and piano lessons. He developed the skills learned in his local church in Rosemead, CA. Growing up in a large church organization; he got to meet good musicians. He was strongly influenced by recording artist Levi Ramirez. Josué would visit Levi at his Ontario, CA studio where he learned how to play many different styles of music as well as many different instruments. The styles learned included Boleros, Salsa, Merengue, Vallenato, Tex Mex, Grupera, Latin Jazz, and many other styles of music. During that time, Josué got to play for different artist in many different venues. In 2005, Josué moved to Oklahoma where he met Robert Ruiz, and got introduced to Tekumbe’s director Franz Mutiz. Josué joined Tekumbé as the bass player as well as keyboards during live performances. Josué enjoys jam sessions with friends and family, as well as playing basketball, soccer, and many other sports.
